Pui O Camping - Lantau Island

Haven't been updating much about the time in Hong Kong so perhaps you'd be happy to learn that even in this buzzing SAR there are some good places to unwind a bit. We went camping on Lantau, an Island close to Hong Kong. Spent two nights there and increased vitamin D production in our bodies. Interesting to note it's the most organized camping site I've ever seen, with 48 camping bays. This means you go to the office and reserve your own enclosed space on the beach. Great Firewall of China Post from Hong Kong

For those of you who read Hebrew or enjoy auto-translation and might have missed my latest post on the our firewall experiences of China, you're welcome to read it and perhaps check other posts of mine on NewsGeek.

Here are a few pictures from Hong Kong for everyone to enjoy. These were taken on Wednesday, which is the free entrance to museums day (they're not really expensive anyway), meaning we checked out 4 of them and had a lot of fun exploring.

On Top of Hong Kong

Slightly held back by the Internet censorship in China that blocks Blogger, I haven't written any updates here. Yes, the great firewall of China is a lame excuse, I'm aware of it. Anyway, now in Hong Kong and thought I'd throw you a picture or two so you'll know I'm still alive and well.

Oh, in case yo haven't noticed, I shaved my head and left a single braid. Being the 4th time I take my long hair and shave it off, I decided on something slightly different. I thought that Chinese people would find it weird but acceptable as foreigners are often weird. To my surprise many of them said it's really cool. Others have mentioned it looks slightly similar to haircuts they do for young children in China, leaving a lock of hair and shaving the rest of the head. Oh well. For me it's somewhat amusing.

Laotian Village Life in Nong Khiaw

Although a bit late in writing about it, there's a lovely place where we spent more than 2 weeks and is surely worth mentioning. Nong Khiaw is a small village in Laos that has some really nice landscapes nearby. While frequented by tourists, most of them move on after a night or two and so our lingering presence there has been somewhat intriguing to a few of the villagers who noted us. It's not easy, after all, to distinguish one foreigner from the other, we all look the same you know...

Kuang Si Falls near Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang didn't seem to offer us too much. It's been great to meet my younger brother once again and spend bits of quality time together.The Kuang Si waterfalls near Luang Prabang (about an hour on a tuk-tuk) were quite spectacular as some of the following pictures will show.

One other highlight of Luang Prabang had been a pretty good vegan (so I hope) buffet where you pay for one plate that you can fill up with loads of yummy veggies, tofu, pasta, rice and unidentified objects the same as you'd pay for the much smaller and poorer dishes you'd usually get in restaurants.
I could further write about the only bar in Luang that seemed to attract people and how, since it closes at 23:30, all beer-thirsty tourists head on to the bowling alley. But it's just not that interesting. Enjoy the pictures :)
